GESLOTEN CIRCUIT VIDEO INSTALLATION
Gesloten Circuit (2024) is a three-chapter video installation featuring floating dual screens. Asynchronous sound and images intersect in fragments, destabilizing the viewer’s attention. The work reflects on the disorienting experience of navigating between multiple social circles, cultures, bureaucratic systems, and languages.
The first chapter introduces a lexicon of contemporary terms describing female discomfort, drawn from Japanese art circles and online discourse, to articulate challenges faced by women, particularly female artists.
Chapter Two traces the trajectory of intergenerational migration and aspiration, reaching back into my own family history.
Chapter Three overlays letters addressed to people abroad with strict border policies.
All three parts reveal the hidden beauty through the generational difficulties of pursuing aspirations within power structures.
